Is the alternative media getting Libya wrong?

Jim W. Dean, Associate Editor of Veterans Today, will join me on Truth Jihad Radio this Monday, August 29th, 1-2 pm The topic: Is the alternative media getting Libya wrong?

Every day, the monopoly corporate media and the foundation-funded pseudo-alternative media are losing market share to internet- and satellite-based genuinely alternative media. (The litmus test for whether an outlet is genuinely alternative or not is 9/11 truth: If it's pro-9/11-truth, it's genuinely alternative; if it isn't, it isn't.)

Just about all of the genuinely alternative media, with the lone exception of the editorial team at Veteran's Today, favors Qaddafi's regime over the Libyan insurgents. Jim W. Dean and Gordon Duff, the editors at Veteran's Today, are even blasting their own writers for favoring Qaddafi. Many are asking: What's with Duff & Dean? Jonathan Azaziah has resigned from Veteran's Today in protest, Cynthia McKinney is being hit with nasty rumors about accepting hospitality from Qaddafi, and Franklin Lamb is getting insults from VT's editors along with his injury from a sniper bullet.

With due respect to Azaziah, Lamb, Tarpley, McKinney, the folks at GlobalResearch and the rest of my frequent radio guests: My professional opinion as a Ph.D. North Africa guy is that Duff and Dean may be right on this one.

The conventional alternative wisdom (now there's an oxymoron) views the situation from a Western-based, manichean perspective: NATO's intervention in Libya, like the invasions of Iraq and Afghanistan, is another war of aggression by the evil empire. Qaddafi must therefore be a good guy trying to protect his nation's resources from the banksters and their NATO hired goons.

From the standpoint of the people of the Middle East and North Africa, however, things look a bit different. As Richard W. Bulliet explains in The Case for Islamo-Christian Civilization, the past 200 years have witnessed, in the Islamic world, a titanic struggle between the forces of Islam and the forces of tyranny (zulm): "...The impulse of rulers to maximize their power to the point of tyranny, zulm, appeared as a natural concomitant of government. All that restrained rulers from acting as tyrants was Islamic law, sharia. Since the law was based on divine rather than human principles, no ruler could change it to serve his own interests." (p.62)

Bulliet describes how the past two centuries have witnessed the rise of unbearable tyranny in the Muslim Middle East, mainly due to the destruction of traditional Islamic restraints on power by secularist dictators indebted to or otherwise controlled by Western imperial interests. During those centuries, real Muslims have been speaking truth to power in the name of Islam, and they have been getting tortured and murdered by secular (or pseudo-religious hypocrite) dictators for their trouble.

The revolutions in the Muslim Middle East and North Africa aim to overthrow secular tyranny, and restore the role of religion as the biggest "check and balance" against oppression. A 2007 poll by WorldPublicOpinion.org reveals the clear will of the majority of Muslims in Muslim-majority countries:

On average, about three out of four (Muslims polled) agree with seeking to "require Islamic countries to impose a strict application of sharia," and to "keep Western values out of Islamic countries." Two-thirds would even like to "unify all Islamic counties into a single Islamic state or caliphate." (source)

Clearly, the Arab revolutions will be Islamic revolutions or they will be no revolutions at all.

And this is what the alt.media folks don't understand. The vast majority of them are leftists with a strong secularist orientation. Like their parents and grandparents who apologized for Stalin and Mao, these grown-up red diaper babies instinctively apologize for a seemingly leftist, secularist dictator like Qaddafi - no matter how brutal, no matter how unpopular among his people, no matter how far out on a limb on the wrong side of history.

My good friend Webster Tarpley, a brilliant and erudite man, is a fundamentalist true-believer in the religion of secularism and material progress. Like the rest of his generation - with a few commendable exceptions like Eric Walberg - Tarpley has been very slow to realize that the secular utopian dream is dead, and that Islam is the real alternative to bankster tyranny. Listen to Webster's latest rant:

Al Qaeda Commander of NATO’s Bloody Reign of Terror in Tripoli is the Monster Abdel Hakim Belhadj,  aka Abdel Hakim al-Hasadi,  Friend of Osama Bin Laden,  former US POW,  and Infamous Killer of US Soldiers in Afghanistan

Belhadj is a "monster" because he's a friend of Bin Laden, a noble soul innocent of 9/11 who died in 2001? And fighting against a monstrously criminal invasion of a sovereign Muslim nation makes Belhadj an "infamous killer"?

The alt.media attempt to smear some of the Libyan rebels as "al-Qaeda" is disgustingly hypocritical. These folks know that al-Qaeda didn't do 9/11, 7/7, Bali, Madrid, Mumbai. Al-Qaeda did however help save Afghanistan from the Soviet army. It helped stop the Bosnian genocide. And it has been struggling to liberate Muslims from foreign occupation in several theaters of war. In the long run, al-Qaeda (the real thing, not the infiltrators) is an obvious ally of the US, as it was in 1970s Afghanistan, and as it will be again when the US reverses the 9/11 coup d'état and shakes off Zionist control.

So let's back up and define our terms. "Al-Qaeda" is just a loose term for a whole lot of disparate folks: sincere defenders of the faith, CIA drug smugglers, Mossad infiltrators...the whole nine yards. To the extent that there is a real al-Qaeda, and there is, it consists of people seeking to develop a military deterrent against the ongoing genocidal assault on Islam, and who hope to use that deterrent to help the world's Muslim majority win freedom from oppression, exploitation and occupation, and ultimately achieve a re-united Ummah. This is a noble endeavor, and those participating in it should be recognized as idealistic heroes even by their opponents...and especially by their anti-imperialist allies in the Euro-American alternative media!

Sure, some al-Qaeda heroes are shrill, small-minded, or even downright stupid. The minority who are anti-Shia and anti-Iran are complete and utter idiots, at least on the all-important question of pan-Islamic unity. But then, most heroes are also idiots, one way or another.

Take the heroes of the alternative media - please! These folks need to recognize that the people of the Arab and Muslim Middle East are sick of tyranny, sick of dictators, sick of "socialist" rhetoric like Qaddafi's masking just another torture-based plutocracy, not all that different from those of the Gulf sheiks he despises.

This is the moment for the people of the Middle East to overthrow their dictators - all of them, from the pseudo-religious royals in Morocco and the Gulf to the pseudo-socialist seculars in Libya and Syria. It's time for the rest of the Middle East to leapfrog ahead of Turkey and Iran, and form democratic Islamic republics that will pave the way for a re-united ummah with the power to wipe usury from the face of the earth.

And it's time for alt.media journalists and other Western observers to recognize that this is what the Muslim majority really wants, then drop the paternalistic secularist claptrap, stop defending dead-end dictators, and get the hell out of the way.

Looks like I'm not the only 9/11 satirist in town any more

I've been cranking out 9/11-related satire for years. Recent examples:

Top ten reasons the Mossad wants to kill David Letterman

US Congress Moves to Israel in Deficit-Reduction Effort

But now it's time to move over - there's a new satirist in town! Some guy who hides behind the pseudonym "Cosmos," and whose main claim to fame is being outed as a wrecker-saboteur-disinformationist by Webster Tarpley, thinks it's like, really hilarious to equate 9/11 skeptics he doesn't like with the characters of his favorite TV series, Gilligan's Island.

Faced with this challenge, I thought I should ask my readers who's the better satirist - me or Cosmos?

Please rate the three satirical articles linked above on a scale of 1 to 10.

Incisive or insipid?
10 = sharply incisive, 0 = utterly insipid

Creative or tedious?
10 = highly creative, 0 =stunningly tedious

Important or trivial?
10 = addresses a topic of great importance, 0 = belabors the trivial

Thank you! Your feedback will help us continue to maintain a high satirical standard here at TruthJihad Blog.

Top ten reasons the Mossad wants to kill David Letterman

Today on Truth Jihad Radio, national security insider Gordon Duff reveals Mossad death threats against David Letterman.

The million dollar question is: Why Letterman?

Here are the top ten reasons.

10) It's from staying up to watch Letterman that Americans are too tired to invade Iran.

9) Letterman's trademark sense of irony is the only thing standing between America and complete and utter domination by the likes of 100% irony-free people like Pam Geller and Rita Kaatz.

8) He's too wimpy to wade into the audience to beat up 9/11 truthers like Bill Maher does.

7) He's having a secret affair with Helen Thomas, and Netanyahu is jealous.

6) "David Letterman" is one of the disguises of a disgruntled intelligence agent named Gordon Duff.

5) "Gordon Duff" is one of the disguises of a disgruntled intelligence agent named David Letterman.

5) He once made fun of the holy War on Terror.

4) The Mossad has discovered that Letterman is Adam Gadhan's controller.

3) If they can convince Letterman's audience that 19 Arabs with box cutters crashed four hijacked jetliners into David Letterman's head, America will rise up in righteous anger to slay all the Philistines, and Zion will reign from the Nile to the Euphrates.

2) Letterman recklessly revealed that when Alan Dershowitz went to Israel's top plastic surgeon for a touch-up on his circumcision, the plastic surgeon told Dershowitz that "Conan O'Brien" is actually Barbara Olson with a new face and a sex change.

1) His top ten lists just aren't as funny as they used to be.

Dave Aossey and Kevin Barrett speaking in Iowa tomorrow (Tuesday)

Dave Aossey, author of Instruments of the State, will join me in two Iowa events tomorrow (Tuesday August 16th).

Title: 9/11: Fact and Fiction

12 noon: Fairfield, Iowa.  Revelations Café, 112 North Main Street

6:30 pm: Iowa City, Iowa.  Uptown Bill's, 730 S. Dubuque Street.

Instruments of the State is a psychological thriller with a 9/11 truth theme. It's the best 9/11 suspense novel yet - clearly better than Steve Alten's The Shell Game. (Listen to my debate with Steve Alten here.)

Listen to my interview with Dave Aossey here.

Anthony Lawson blasts Jim Fetzer, Veterans Today

Anthony Lawson, maker of the greatest 9/11 short film ever, This Is an Orange, is on the warpath!

In a brand-new article What Has Happened to Veterans Today? Lawson blasts Veterans Today for publishing Jim Fetzer. Lawson and Fetzer, email friends for a time, had a falling-out over Fetzer's support for claims that videos showing planes hitting the World Trade Center towers cannot be authentic. (Read about Jim Fetzer's August 1st appearance on my radio show here, and listen to it here.)

Anthony Lawson will discuss the controversy, as well as his latest text-video assault on the "no planes theory," on The Kevin Barrett Show this coming Tuesday, August 16th, 11-noon Central on NoLiesRadio.org.

Anthony writes:

I hope that this text & video combination might be of interest.

9/11: The Absurdity of the No-Planes-in-New York Theory, also at Rense as a PDF file and Vimeo. Each can be accessed from the other,  but it may be better to start with the text.

What it's about:

The 10th anniversary of this horrendous event is almost upon us, and it is important that we all stay focussed on one thing: Getting a new inquiry launched,  and the more the 9/11 Truth Movement, is distracted from this aim,  the less likely that we shall succeed.

Although the no-planes-in-New York theorists have been recognised as either fools or monumental liars—by those who can think for themselves—they have given many a mainstream-media lackey an excuse to bundle all of those who are genuinely seeking the truth into one single category: Foil-hatted nutters who don't even think that real planes hit the Twin Towers...

This nonsense really has to stop.

Take care,

Anthony Lawson

* * *

My own view: Lawson with his excellent films, Fetzer with his reasoning and speaking skills, and Veterans Today (led by Gordon Duff) with its framing of 9/11 truth and Zionism as veterans' issues, are all powerful forces in the movement for truth and justice. While I tend to agree with Lawson's critique of Fetzer's video fakery argument, I don't agree with Lawson that Fetzer's being wrong about this will make 9/11 truth a target of ridicule. To the uninitiated, controlled demolition seems every bit as ridiculous as video fakery; and mainstream TV hosts and other anti-truth propagandists ridicule controlled demolition far more than they ridicule video fakery, simply because controlled demolition is (rightly) more prominent in the truth movement.

From a PR perspective, controlled demolition has a lot of disadvantages. The average uninitiated person asks, "If they smashed a plane into the building, why bother blowing it up too?" It sounds completely crazy - at least as crazy as video fakery. Worse, the assertion that the World Trade Center was taken down by controlled demolition does not directly contradict the Islamophobic core of the Official Conspiracy Theory (OCT): The big lie that "extremist Muslim hijackers" brutally commandeered passenger planes and crashed them into buildings. The overwhelming evidence against this ridiculous, racist notion is far more important, from a public outreach perspective, than any other aspect of 9/11 truth. Anybody who tries to defend the possibility of "Muslim hijackers" in the face of the overwhelming evidence that there were none - for instance, by insisting in the teeth of the evidence that a 757 crashed at the Pentagon, or by attacking David Ray Griffin's case that the "cell phone calls" were faked - is somebody I would suspect of sowing "beneficial cognitive diversity."

Remember, the purpose of 9/11 was, in a word, Islamophobia. As long as there is enough Islamophobia out there to spark wars for Israel, the 9/11 perps are happy. Destroying the myth of Muslim involvement in 9/11, and showing that the Zionist enemies of Islam were the real criminals, is the only game in town. Any "9/11 truth" person who isn't contributing to that effort, or who is distracting us from it, is consciously or unconsciously helping the other side.

A whole lot of people seem to overestimate the importance of being right in arcane arguments about how 9/11 was done. I think we already know enough about that to move on to the who and the why. Gordon Duff and Veterans Today, Anthony Lawson, and Jim Fetzer all agree that Zionist fanatics in and around Cheney's office - the Project for a New American Century and their sponsor, Netanyahu - are the prime suspects, in conjunction with the Israeli Mossad.

So what are we fighting about?

US Congress Moves to Israel in Deficit-Reduction Effort

US Congress Moves to Israel in Deficit-Reduction Effort

August 12 2011
Disassociated Press

In the wake of the announcement that 81 US Congressmen are leaving on an AIPAC-sponsored junket to Israel, the new SuperCongress announced today that the entire legislative branch of the US government will be moved to Tel Aviv. The reason, according to informed sources, is to save on travel junket expenses to reduce the national deficit.

Relocating Congress to Israel is expected to significantly lower the cost of AIPAC-sponsored junkets: Airfare costs will be eliminated, hotel costs reduced, and "preferred customer" cocaine and prostitution discounts taken advantage of. The move should bring a noticeable reduction in the hemorrhage of US taxpayer dollars to the Zionist state.

The purpose of the move, according to informed sources, is to lower the deficit, not throw another bone to AIPAC. "Who do you think is paying for these travel junkets to Israel? That's right, the US taxpayer!" said a SuperCongress spokesperson on conditions of anonymity. "The Israelis force Congress to cough up billions of US taxpayer dollars in aid to Israel. Then Israel recycles those dollars by buying even more congressmen. It's a vicious circle. We can't stop it, so we might as well make the best of it, and just move the hell over there and be done with it."

According to the Christian Science Monitor, Israel cost the US taxpayer about 1.6 trillion dollars between 1973 and 2002 -- putting the total today at around 2 trillion dollars. Informed sources speculate that as the news spreads that Israel and its US assets orchestrated the 9/11 attacks, American taxpayers may eventually demand their money back.

Dick Cheney: Russian apartment bombings inside job "complete nonsense"

Pot Calls Kettle White
Cheney, Putin shoot down "conspiracy theories"

Sundance, Wyoming
Appropriated Press

At a hastily-convened press conference outside his home today, former Vice President Dick Cheney absolved Vladimir Putin and the Russian state security services of responsibility for the 1999 apartment bombings that brought Putin to power and launched the Russian invasion of Chechnya.

Responding to Putin's statement that 9/11 inside job theories are "complete nonsense," Dick Cheney thanked Putin for his support and added, "Vlad didn't do those apartment bombings either, no matter what the conspiracy theorists say. That's complete nonsense. State security services and their professional-assassin contractors just don't have the capability to pull off massive terror attacks. Only rag-tag groups of Muslims have that kind of access and expertise. And besides, the Muslims WANT us to invade their countries and steal their resources and murder them by the millions. That's why they're always handing us such convenient excuses."

For more information on the 1999 Russian apartment bombings, watch Andrei Nekrasov's film "Disbelief" - perhaps the best film yet on false-flag terror.
